Busy week- school Halloween party, church Halloween party, visiting teaching, doctor appt and shots for Dre, running, getting Cupcakes for Cancer up and going, Tupperware party, lots of walks in this gorgeous weather, knitting, library, park, dentist appt, and the daily to dos.
I have been overwhelmed by the amount of love and service people can give- in preparing for this Cupcakes for Cancer fundraiser, everyone who hears about it, asks what they can do and how they can help. Money is starting to come in from all over to the paypal account and from people I don't even know. That means you all are doing a great job of getting the word out. Thank you all for you support of the Downers and this event. Thank you for showing how much good there still is in this world. Thank you for inspiring me to be better. Thank you for giving so freely. Leigh Ann and her family want to thank you all for all you are doing to make this event happen. Bless you all!

Cupcakes for cancer 5k
Dear Friends, family, and neighbors-
In two weeks I will be running a 5K race to help support my friends' son, Greg, who has been diagnosed with cancer-Burkitts Lymphoma. This fun, family event will be held on Saturday, November 13th at 9:00 am in Westchester Hills housing development in Las Vegas.
Many of you live here and I hope you will join with me either in running the 5K or walking the 1 or 2 mile race. There will be train rides for the kids as well as a 100 yard dash. It should be a lot of fun. Greg and his family will be passing out cupcakes that morning to those who come to support this event.
There are also many of you who do not live close by but may want to help this amazing family by donating or pledging a set amount for each of the 3.2 miles I will run. This is easily done through Paypal or sending me a check made out to Cupcakes for Cancer.
Please visit www.cupcakes4cancer.blogspot.com for more information and to read Greg's story.
Most of us have been touched by cancer in some way. Here is a chance to come to gather and help ease the burden of Greg's family as they endure this trial in their lives. I will run for my love for the Downer family and the battle Greg is fighting. I will run for my brother, Brandon, who lost his battle 5 years ago. Who will you run for? Will you run with me?
Please let others know about this event and see how much we can do to help the Downer family out. Thank you.

Dre is one and still alive (and most amazingly- so am I!)
Dre-Dre turned one yesterday- that was the big news of the week. The past year has been a whirlwind of sleepless nights, constantly soaked nursing pads and burp rags, milestones, smiles, giggles, squeals of delight, and the list goes on and on. We love our little Audrey. She is a character- full of spunk, silliness, and stubbornness. She has brought so much to our little family- more stress but much more love, joy, and fun.
Adding this third spirit to our home has been a challenge for me. The perfectionist in me really, really struggled with not being able to do all the things I wanted (and felt like I needed) to do. I have spent the past year adjusting to a new way of life and a new way of thinking about what is important and necessary. I still do not have all the answers. I still struggle with many things, but I am learning to let some things go and go with the flow. I am learning to let my kids have time to be kids. I am learning to be okay with my house not being as clean as I want and certainly not be clean all at the same time. I am learning to let the dishes sit while I get on the floor and play with the kids. I have put my books to the side so I can read more chapter books with my kids and have fallen even more in love with the written word. I still feel really lost and confused about who I really am- but having Audrey and the struggles that I have faced since her birth have helped me to realize I want to be more- I want to be a happier and better person and I can begin right now.

Cat cakes for our kitty obsessed little girl
It took her a few minutes to get started, but once she dug into the cake, she sure enjoyed it.
Yum!Yum!
In other news, we had a good week. Drew came to play with Wyatt. Mara helped me sell tickets for the school fall festival. I got to go to book club. Nate went to a conference that was interesting. We enjoyed lots of rain and thunderstorms. I was able to do some more running in prep for a race we are putting together for some friends of ours who's 6 year old son was diagnosed with cancer recently.
On Saturday, November 13th, we will be having the Cupcakes for Cancer 5K run/walk to raise money for the Downer family. Details will be coming very soon. If you are interested in participating, get your running shoes ready! If you want to sponsor me and pledge $ for each mile I run, get your wallets ready! I will post info on this blog and facebook with links to the paypal account where you can donate and register for the race, as soon as we get an okay on the location. This is going to be a fun event for a great cause and I hope you can all get involved in one way or another.

Where does the time go? Sunday afternoon already! weekly recap=
- Wyatt had a busy week- he had a play date with Ben, play school at our house where we learned about bones and muscles, a tour of Great Harvest Bread company with some friends, a check up with the dentist, and a trip to the library and park.
-Mara skipped school on Friday to go to the dentist and play at the park with her friend who is home schooled. She also got to go to the library and park, decorate Halloween cookies, read several books, and we started reading Black Beauty together this week. She will begin French lessons soon and is very excited about it (so am I!)
-Dre was a crack up this week. Nothing specific just a goofy girl that makes us laugh. She stopped nursing, played at the park, got two molars and is working on more. She loves the library as much as the big kids do. She also participated in a child study at UNLV this week- kind of fun!
-Nate and I did the usual this week. The exciting news is that he decided he is going to take a week off work and we can go see my family for Thanksgiving! I think he knows that is going to be a hard week for me with my good friend moving far away on 20th, so to make things easier he wants to take me to see my family. CAN'T WAIT!
-Today marks the passing of my brother, Brandon. 5 years ago he lost his battle with cancer but won the battle for his soul. His death was sad and difficult to bear, but knowing that his heart was changed and that he drew closer to his Heavenly Father in the end brings comfort and peace. I am so happy to know I will see him again, in a better place- free of pain and sorrows. Families truly can be together forever, for which I am truly grateful.

happy and sad
1-Audrey is done nursing. This comes with mixed feelings- for me. For Dre she couldn't care less- took the sippy cup of milk today without a second thought.
2-My friend is moving far away from me. This too brings mixed feelings. Happy for her and her family and all the great adventures they will have. Sad for me-another friend leaving- another void in my life.
3-today is just a happy and sad day. Opposition in all things.

This week-
-Wyatt got a Halloween costume (a pirate) and has been wearing everyday, all day. He also got to go on a tour of a fire station for play group this week. So FUN!
-Dre learned to shake her head no and thinks it is funny to do it before she does something she knows she shouldn't be doing.
-Mara decided to be a cowgirl for Halloween. This will be the 3rd year, but this year- she wants a purple cowgirl hat.
-Nate has been doing such a good job at work that he is getting a bonus! He is also doing a great job of being a father and husband so I just rewarded him with double stuffed oreos and a glass a milk.
-I am now down to 25lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight! Just 5 more to go to make my goal. I went running (mostly walking) yesterday and it felt so good! Hoping my body can handle it and will be able to make it a new habit.
I am sure I am missing a lot of fun stuff we did- oh well. Conference was great! I wish I could listen to the Prophet and apostles speak for a couple of hours each day- thank goodness for the Ensign each month. Well- my little pirate son is not listening - I better go make him walk the plank!
